These sticky pork lettuce wraps are sweet, savoury and full of fresh crunch, with marinated pork, crisp vegetables and soft lettuce leaves for wrapping.
Ingredients
For the sticky pork
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp brown sugar
pinch cinnamon
pinch five-spice powder
4 thin-cut pork loin steaks
For the filling
1 carrot, sliced into matchsticks
1 lime, juiced
pinch golden caster sugar
1 tbsp rapeseed oil
½ cucumber, cut into matchsticks
16 soft lettuce leaves (such as Butterhead lettuce)
To serve
sweet chilli sauce (optional)
Method
- Make the marinade by mixing together the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, cinnamon, five-spice powder and 1 tablespoon of water. Place the pork steaks in a shallow bowl, pour over the marinade and turn to coat well. Leave to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Mix the carrot matchsticks with the lime juice and golden caster sugar. Brush a piece of foil with the rapeseed oil and use it to line a grill tray.
- Grill the pork steaks (or cook on a griddle pan if preferred) for 4 minutes on each side, keeping an eye on them so the marinade doesn’t burn. Once cooked, slice the pork into strips.
- Arrange the lettuce leaves on a board and divide the pork between them. Top with the carrot and cucumber. Fold in both ends of the lettuce leaf, then roll up from one side to hold the filling in place.
- Serve with sweet chilli sauce on the side, if using.
