These spiced venison meatballs are quick to make and full of flavour, served with a fresh chopped salad, creamy hummus and warm flatbreads.
Ingredients
For the venison meatballs
300g venison mince
½ red onion, grated
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 tsp ground cumin
½ tsp ground turmeric
½ tsp chilli powder
handful of fresh coriander, finely chopped
olive oil, for frying
salt and freshly ground black pepper
For the chopped salad
2 tomatoes, diced
¼ cucumber, diced
½ red onion, diced
½ lemon, juiced
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
handful of fresh mint leaves, torn
To serve
hummus
fresh coriander leaves
puffy flatbreads
chilli sauce
Method
- Put the venison mince into a bowl with the grated onion, garlic, spices and chopped coriander. Season generously with salt and pepper and mix well. Roll the mixture into about 20 small meatballs.
- Toss together all of the chopped salad ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
- Heat a frying pan with a little olive oil over a medium heat. Cook the meatballs for about 10 minutes, turning regularly, until browned all over and cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs with the chopped salad, hummus, flatbreads and chilli sauce.
