Had the unfired Steak pie tonight and can confirm it is better than the fired ones. Glazing the pastry with an egg wash at home gives it a glossy finish leaving the pastry with a flaky and lighter finish than the already fired ones. Generous portion of perfectly pre cooked tender meat and gravy too.

Pastry on unfired steak pie, rose really well and was a lovely golden brown after 30 min in oven, but meat not quite hot enough.  I normally buy fired steak pie, which normally heats through great. The taste is delicious for both types. Keep up the great work.

I thought I would be easily on the side of the oven-ready, pre-fired camp. But I have to admit that a generous glazing and cooking the pastry from raw produced a beautifully golden, smooth crust. The pie looked so nice I wanted to present it at the table and show how good it looked.

Taste-wise I have to sit on the fence. I'm not sure I can say one is better than the other. They both taste excellent to me. I guess I will have to buy one of each and do a proper taste test. Oh the things we have to do to help others...

The bottom line is I can recommend both pies. Taste is 5/5.
